South Korea’s National Tax Service to Deploy AI for Customized Tax Consultations
South Korea's National Tax Service (NTS) is advancing its digital transformation with plans to integrate generative AI into tax consultations. The AI system will be trained on legal precedents, tax laws, and regulatory rulings to deliver personalized guidance. This initiative, part of the 'first year of AI Tax Administration' declaration, aims to enhance audit flexibility and service accessibility.
The National Tax Administration Reform Committee, advising the NTS, recently convened in Seoul to outline these innovations. Commissioner Lim Kwang-hyun emphasized the AI's role in streamlining taxpayer interactions through voice consultations and case-law-informed responses. The MOVE reflects a broader trend of institutional adoption of AI to modernize bureaucratic processes.
